So after delighting in making the Simple Plan cd into something vaguely reminicent of a Swiss dairy product, I pondered what I could do next that would preserve the cd's structural integrity enough to keep it good more abuse. The microwave sounded like a good idea. I'd never microwaved a cd before, and had heard that it did horrible things to cds and came with lovely blue sparks. Once again, destructive *and* pretty! I win! So I trounced over to Tyler's room (you might remember him from the Skank Bear picture that was up here a while ago..) and demanded use of his microwave. A destruction enthusiast himself, Tyler was happy to help. Here we see his amazing and holy microwave (Tyler collects religious paraphenalia in case you wondered). Then me putting Simple Plan in the nuke box (I swear my hand is NOT that chunky, it's just the camera angle). I would've gotten a shot of the actual microwaving event (which did indeed come with magnificent blue sparks *and* sizzling noises) except in order to NOT destroy the microwave in the process of nuking a cd, you can only leave the cd in there for 3-4 seconds and the camera I was using wouldn't have been able to react fast enough anyway. And voila! A delightful array of cracks have appeared on the disc! Apparently the fact that it was a holy microwave did not help this poor cd as the powers of Jesus and the Virgin Mary combined did nothing in the way of saving it. Or Jesus and his mom hate Simple Plan as much as I do...
