You remember those old motivational posters from like, I don't even know when that had the cat hanging haphazardly from a branch and the caption "Hang in there, Baby!"? I'm not sure how a small furry animal in distress was supposed to make you feel motivated or like everything was going to be okay...I suppose the picture was just a pun on the phrase "Hang in there" and the kitten in distress was the only thing that could hang besides a bat. And people like kittens better than bats. I mean really, does seeing other creatures in peril make you feel better about your situation? Was help really on the way for that poor kitten? The world may never know...
In any case, this picture is for my darling one and only, James, who is so busy juggling a million different things at once and dealing with stress from all sorts of different places on the side. I just remember telling him to hang in there the last time I talked to him, and this was a mental image that amused me, so I thought I'd draw it. I don't suppose it's very motivational or like, helpful really or anything, but I thought it was kinda funny, and I thought it came out well as a drawing itself. I've been doing alright drawing people lately so I'm going to take advantage of it while it lasts. So um...yes...that's the story on this picture.
It also calls to mind that Simpson's episode where Marge is looking at the picture with the kitten in distress and reads the copyright date on the poster and says "1987....that cat's probably long dead. That's pretty depressing." or something like that.

Nice gams! Good perspective on the boots too, esp. the left one (our left).
Ahhhh...Cyndi Lauper is playing... whoohoo...
Ooops, so easily distracted, anyway, yeah, I remember those. The Simpsons episode too. Nice twist on it.
I was at a garage sale and they had this cheesy looking inspirational poster. But when I read it it said: "If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't come back to you, hunt it down and kill it." Apparently a quote from some high-ranking officer in Viet Nam.
I could kick myself for not buying that fucker.
